Sicily & Palermo

Exotic and mischievous, or just a regular Italian city?

When I stayed at lovely Madama Hostel in Milan, I was lucky to hang out with a native Italian who pretty much made my following Italian itinerary. Palermo was one of his recommendations. I might have expected too much. Possibly due to a subconscious prejudice mind affected by gangster movies from NYC. I don’t know.

Another thing might have been my wish to like a place. Like Berlin. This drive of course motivates me to explore and find… Unwillingly but no, Palermo isn’t really my place.

Palermo is really really noisy. In some parts the traffic is almost unbearable, and it becomes an absolute must to find other places away from it all. While in the city I try to focus on some of the really old buildings as a compensation for this not being my place.

It’s somewhat impressive that a worn paving stone and storm water well has become SO very beautiful. And some rusty street art on top of it 😊. My love for details is satisfied.

Palermo Masonry

I’m about to faint from being struck by the beauty of this. Palermo is such a concentrate of diverse mixing. Too noisy, and in parts also way too touristy for me to appreciate. Hot as the crown on top 🙂 Which is something I usually like, but it slows med down. The old alleys gives a prefect break from all mentioned ❤️.

Construction

… in it’s most clear form. I absolutely love it!!

Alleys

Images doesn’t really do them justice. Listening to the people living there is a good dosage of mindfulness.
