The food is one, or possibly the most important thing after the climate when I pick a destination. I want good food, and warm weather. However… one of the two possibly reasons for me to loose appetite… is hot weather. For a Swede, it’s incredibly hot in Italy during the summer. The Italians might agree… climate change is seriously affecting the Mediterranean these days.
And since I love to bicycle, eating (and drinking) become even more important. Room for improvement… Going to markets still feed my interest in local and domestic food. I’m sure many can identify in the joy of markets if one is in to food on a whole. If… the food itself isn’t that interesting or to ones liking, the pulse, the sound of the language the everyday life vibe will compensate. I smile as I write this, cause it brings back so many nice memories from travelling.
I’m clueless about the Italian agriculture when it comes to the use of pesticide. The food in the market for sure isn’t marketed with the help of ecological. I have to turn my blind side to this. Another issue is the pricing, are they the same for everyone, or am I paying the tourist tariff?
Street museums
Or, a flea market? I have no interest in adding anything to my already unnecessary voluminous content in my backpack, but I enjoy looking at the things being displayed.
Apart from this, Palermo doesn’t really offer any street art of interest. Some religious images that doesn’t really fall in my category of liking. But there are plenty of worn surfaces that will meet my standards of interesting “pieces”.
