Ad Hoc Interrailing
Meeting native Italian Davide at Madama hostel in Milano was such a blessing. I had him give me his views of where to go while travelling in Italy. His inside info became my guide, as well as I altered as I was going. All depending on what I needed as a change for the coming days.
Now, it’s Sicily and Palermo I’m heading towards. I needed a break from hostels, and booked my own room at B & B Questa casa non e’un albergo in Palermo harbour. The harbour itself wasn’t really what I had expected, but you travel and learn 😊. The room was excellent, but I pretty much only slept there. Even though I really liked the room, it also reminded me why hostels is an in general better choice while travelling solo. It made me feel lonely.

Top notch ❤️ From getting off the train and asking another fellow Italian passenger where I could buy the ticket to the ferry to Messina. He didn’t speak english, and neither did his pick up. But the understood my issue, and didn’t let me out of sight until they had arranged a ticket in my hand. It’s so very heart warming.
Italians & Apps for Translation
It’s amazing how technology assists with communication. It’s also quite enjoyable using them since the technology fails constantly. You need a bit of humor and self distance to tackle both the translation, and sometimes even more so when you (I) get the message 😂😂😂.
It’s not every day I get offered a shag rinding the train. And now it happened twice during 24 hours. Not the Seychellian way though. It was offered after plenty of other interesting topics discussed. I totally understand if someone would get pissed, but this turned out being a parentheses, and the young guy insisted on buying me an espresso despite me turning down his previous offer. A most delicious espresso on top of it.
