Night Trains

Talking to Strangers

Isn’t my strongest feature. The social looner, and on the edge of an introvert while travelling. I guess 80% of all my travelling since I was 17 has been solo, and I found it much more easy to slip into conversations when I was under 30. Why? I don’t know. On journeys longer than a weekend, I get socially restless if all I utter is Thank You and Hello.

In Snälltågets shared sleeping compartment I ended up with two +75 ladies travelling together at the bottom “beds”, and Rami opposite of mine at the top “beds”. It wasn’t until in the morning when the ladies had left the compartment that Rani and I started to talk. A great conversation, that confirms there are so many cultures at home to approach and to get to know more about. It doesn’t even have to be other ethnic cultures, it could be talking to anyone 😊 regardless of whatever, to mirror ones own views. I’m also very curious about how Swedes are perceived by other ethnic cultures.

Rami

Means Archer in Arabic. Rami came from Syria 2015, and studies korean cause he thinks Korean women are so beautiful. He’s studying to become a dental technician because his brother and role model is a dental technician. Beyond that the conversation was about helping each other out, which I find a very reassuring human asset. As well as a great start for my month of travelling.
