A great start when one would like to explore a town, city or… any place, is if possible to find a river, and follow it. It’s not necessarily always easy or even pleasant. But very often, it is. And if anything, it’s a start. One can always change ones mind as one discovers other things while looking for… the river or stream.
I’m in Berlin, so Spree it is.
Bicycled from my hostel Nena at Provinzstraße 16 in Soldiner Kiez to East Side Gallery at Mühlenstraße 3-100. It wasn’t all that easy to find it. Possibly cause I thought I was looking for something else… I didn’t find the outdoor gallery to be that exciting. I thought I had found it when I got to Holzmarkt that was much more of a interesting place for me than the gallery on the wall.
Zola East Side -Friedrichshain
One of the watering holes during the Berlin heat wave… Nothing to applaud, but it was a nice sit down and equally nice people watching. I guess most people go to the nearby Holzmarkt. Zolas is located at Mühlenstraße 70-71, and their pizzas looked delicious.
I don’t know how many electrolytic Cokes I had these days in Berlin. But I roughly added all the km’s i bicycled to in-between 120-160 km due to the fact that my hostel had a bit far off location. Wherever I wanted to go, it was at least 10 km… Regardless, the distances suited me very well since one always find interesting things on ones way to where one’s going.
Few things taste as good as a really cold Coke on really hot days when you need to replenish your fluids and some minerals.
I Met a Hen… The Contrasts of Berlin
I have to admit I didn’t expect to find a tee pee camp with free range hens in the metropolis of Berlin. As well as tree houses for both kids and grown ups. I like it 😊. Very city exotic.
