Friends from Myanmar
finns You’ll find this facade at Sihlquai 125. I’d say a slap in the face is a vast underestimation. When I realice it says “Myanmar” it gecomes magnified. The piece is created as a part of the art project Cup of Color. I find it so very constructive that they like to give people living in broken societies hope by making art at facades❤️
Mobility on a Bicycle
There are a few reasons I like the rivers. Water… if it’s not transferred to some kind of garbage dumping site, is so refreshing. In Switzerland it’s mental De Luxe. I had a few hours inbetween trains, and since sitting isn’t my prime property… the ants in mi pants….
And having a bicycle as a travel companion, it’s so very easy to just look my bckpack into a locker at the station, and my mobility becomes doubled. Meaning, I don’t have to care for my luggage while doing a micro exploring of the hours inbetween trains.
Another reason to find a river is that they mostly have bicycle and walking lanes on the side. No cars, just a chill tour. In Switzerland they seem to be ok with bicycles in traffic, however… a bit impatient since this is the nation of perfection. Meaning, they will clearly show dismay if you make mistakes. But the won’t do like in Stockholm -where I’m from- where they’ll threaten to run you over. Many bicyclists in stockholm unfortunately works so very hard on getting other trafficants feel this way though…
There are plenty of very good bicycling infrastructure in Zürich, and that might be a contributing reason that cars behave a bit… impatient with bicycling imperfections. Just do your best, and if anything…. stay AWAY from accidents with their rather risky rails in the middle of roads. Not only is it very easy to get yourself seriously hurt by getting stuck with a bicycle wheel in them, I’ve heard non comfirmed rumors that if you in any way prevent a train you may get severly fined.
Excellent blog about bicycling rules in Switzerland
Crystal Clear Water
Lovely!! But if you have a severe fear of fish, it’s lovely with a dash of anxiety.
They have this AMAZING culture where some of the people of Zürich hop into the water and just floats along and get up a couple of kilometres down the river. I assume some of them have their clothes in a dry bag, cause I saw no one walking the streets in their swim suits. Such an exotic activity to me. If I didn’t have this fear of fish, and possible cold… water, I would have loved to try. It’s not one or two persons doing this, the’re many, and they move at a decent speed.
I was happy dipping my toes for a comfortable cooling effect.
Last, but far from least
Swiss national museum, an incredible building. The image above does it no justice.
