Berlin and it’s Facades

Kontrasten mellan en nyrenoverad och gammal sliten fasad bredvid varandra i Berlin.

Facadevaganza

One of my triggers are houses, or even more, facades. Some of them are just plain ART. If you’re into facades, Berlin is one of your places. You’ll find highs and lows, rustic, modern, colourful, ugly or beauty in an enchanting mix. You’re in creativity heaven here on earth. Mind you, it’s just a metaphor, cause I do NOT beleive in heaven. Or hell, for that matter.

If you have other facade heavens, please email me a tip.

Here is my confetti of facades from Berlin and Me to You. Trust me, I could have given you more. But I suggest you take the train to Berlin and find your own favourites😊

This particular one is located at Tucholskystraße, possibly #30, or close to 30. This area is my current favourite. It’s close to the subway station U Rosenthaler Platz, and then you walk towards the subway station U Oranienburger Tor. Right opposite of this building you have the restaurant Restaurant Keyser Soze, that I really liked as a recharging chilling kind of place.

I’ve heard so many people raving about Berlin. And my first time here was a painful escape from something. Very challenging taking Berlin to heart under those circumstances. I worked SO very hard at liking the place. But since I’ve extended my life to living both in Stockholm and Malmö, Berlin is only a night train away… and I’m slowly getting used to the continent of… Europe being so very much closer. And I’ve slowly opened up to Berlin being a reasonable break from my regular every day life.

Berlin is now a “return to” kind’a place 😊

Orange ❤️

According to me, not being an architect, I can rave or… the opposite, without any personal responsibility. This construction and shape is rather mediocre. But raising it a notch by painting the balconies orange? Yeezy!

Fun, or objectionable?

Why not, kind of? I don’t have a defined opinion of the established view of buildings and beauty. As long as the areas dont create a “forgotten” environment. However, worried architecture is sad, since what is built is going to be around for a while.

My point here though, is… why don’t we allow our swedish facades to be a little bit more playful, or estheically fun?

More to come

If I could only remember the address of this place. This location, or area is so attractive.

The “anxious” me…

While loving all these, I myself of course dress mostly in black.

Most of all, I like here you lift a building by colorful window frames. Kind of like the pulled in orange balcony. This building and it’s facade is rather classic, and the windows takes the building up quite a few levels. The seasonally surrounding greenery gives the expression also gives yet another dimension❤️

Safety…

Kind of boring, but still somewhat intresting beacause of the colorful details. Most of all, I think about safety, or rather… the risk of these dishes falling down.

Age with Beauty & Grace

Look at this facade, it’s rugged and rustic beauty. To mee it looks as if the managing of it, aims right at this specific look. It’s worn, not mismanaged. And it’s also super aesthetic, just like the wrinkeled and aged turkish and greek ladies and gentlemen on the swedich youghurt containers. So very attractive.

You’ll find this kind of facade fairly regularly in Berlin. Some managed to look worn, some… forgotten and you clearly see the difference in managing ambition, or… lack of ambition. On a bicycle… all of this is so much more accessible to you. You’ll also gain a lot by having your creative facade glasses on.

Facades as a Piece of Canvas

This is an open air gallery in the suburb of Tegel Süd. Start at Neheimer Straße and you’ll find plenty more.
