All the Cafés

What Makes Your Travelling?

Mine are mainly about eating & drinking, even though my apetit is suffering when it’s hot. Starving is not an option, but more drinking than eating DO happen.

While ant in the pants are my personality, few things (but bicycling) beats sitting down at the cafés on the sidewalk and just observe the everyday life of the place. What happens next to me, listening to the local language, it’s pace and enthusiasm. Italy is absolutely perfect for this.

Bicycle on board a Train

My plan was to take an electric step in bicycle “Karin” from Swedish Monark on this trip so I’d be comfortable as well as assisted by electricity when needed. It would also make other routes be more available if I decided I’d like to bicycle instead of taking the train on some routes. But the one I ordered and pre paid for were delayed, so I was reimbursed, and left with… Sally, by folding budget friendly bicycle from Decathlon.

That turned out to be a blessing. I don’t even want to think about the inconvenience the heavy full size Karin would have caused. I’m sure I wouldn’t even have been able to travel on all trains with the full size. But the folding bicycle in a bag was always ok. You can be denied entry with a foldeable bicycle, but I was fortunate not to experience it on this trip. And the convenience of unfolding it on the platform, and just attach my 40 litre backpack on the back of Sally… It’s difficult to feel more free than this. Off we went.

If I happened to have a couple of hours before my next train connection, we could just go explore, or get a dose of well needed exercise in-between all the sitting on trains, or… find a cosy side walk café 😊

The Grand in Small Things…

Being in the presence makes you see things one normally wouldn’t see… again, the language at the table next to you, earth beating concrete, beautiful design in everyday pieces, or the cute hat of a uniform…
